The Systemic Corruption of the DoD IG
In this episode, I continue with my American Patriot Series – and most appropriately, as we celebrate Veterans Day! Today, I’ll speak with retired USAF LtCol Ryan Sweazy, a true American Patriot, as we discuss his foundation, his service, and the lessons he’s learned in serving others.
I’ve had other American Patriots on prior, as we discussed the Palestine Ohio derailment, chemical disaster, and repercussions with Dr. Franco Musio. And with Mr. Roman Buhler, where we discussed his leadership in pushing forth a new Constitutional Amendment to “Keep the Nine” SOCTUS justices. I’ve also engaged with Mr. Michael Haywood, a retired US Army Colonel, who wrote “The Spoils of War,” which provides keen insights into how Russia’s oligarchy operates.
The purpose of the American Patriots series, regardless of the political leanings of my guests, is to look into the lives, lessons, and efforts of real Americans who sacrifice daily for the security and advancement of our Republic. Americans such as LtCol Ryan Sweazy, today’s guest, who’ve taken on risks and sacrificed for their country and others – in Ryan’s case via his service in the US Army and post-retirement in his foundation, to live the American Dream, advance America’s values to enable future generations of Americans to enjoy our freedoms and independence. It doesn’t matter how old or how young you are; you can make a difference. This series brings to you everyday Americans like yourself to show you that anyone can make a difference in our society our country, and in advancing our freedoms. The lesson for our listeners is you can change things for the better; you don’t need any special permissions, and you are empowered –use your civil and constitutional rights and act!
Each week, I discuss varied strategic perspectives, analyses, and assessments on the ongoing Cognitive War. I’ve detailed the background and definition of this war, its underlying theory, how we should be conducting operations, and layout several seminal solutions to enable us to compete and win in this war in my just published book, where you’ll get insights from my over four decades inside national security and why we must overhaul our national security apparatus to compete in this war with China, with Russia, and domestically with the radical progressive left. It also discusses how we need to overhaul our national security apparatus – which is a key part of today’s episode.
In this episode, I speak with LtCol (ret) USAF veteran Ryan Sweazy about his foundation – The Walk the Talk Foundation, and his battle against the Department of Defense. We discuss his background, his service, and what drives him and close with his insights and perspective of the lessons learned from his career and foundation – as he undertakes a battle for justice against the 800lb gorilla – the DoD.
Ryan Sweazey is the president and founder of the Walk the Talk Foundation, LLC, www.walkthetalkfoundation.org. A 1999 graduate of the Air Force Academy, “Count” Sweazey served on active duty in the Air Force until his retirement in 2022. As an F-16 pilot, he served in five operational / test flying assignments, logging over 1,500 sorties in the F-16 and T-38. In 2010, he was designated as a Regional Affairs Strategist for Western Europe, later being selected in 2021 as the Air Force’s only fighter pilot Foreign Area Officer. Sweazey served over 14 years overseas, including assignments to Japan, South Korea, Germany, Italy, and Iraq. He holds an associate degree in German, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, and an MBA. He is a graduate of the German Command and Staff College, the Führungsakademie der Bundeswehr.
Sweazey served as an Inspector General in the Air Force from 2013-2016, where he witnessed the numerous shortcomings of the Department of Defense Inspector General system. Later, while assigned to the Defense Intelligence Agency from 2017-2020, he again experienced firsthand the rampant dysfunction of the DoDIG as his and dozens of others’ IG complaints fell through the cracks of an ineffective and corrupt organization. During that time, Sweazey collated over 70 witness statements and produced a report to Congress highlighting the systemic failings of both DIA and the DoDIG. This report would serve to be the centerpiece of a February 2022 article by the Wall Street Journal, which brought attention to the breadth and depth of corruption in our military avenues of recourse, culminating with the passage of the 2023 Intelligence Authorization Act.
In January 2022, Sweazey launched the nonprofit Walk the Talk Foundation, whose mission is twofold: bringing about substantive change to an IG system in dire need of repair while advising and assisting victims navigating the treacherous waters of whistleblowing in the military
