America Out Loud - Has the Republican Party Taken Its Eye Off the Ball in Domestic Politics?
Once again, I am pleased to join Malcolm and two great guests in a discussion on the Iran war nd MOU, the domestic terrorists plot for the UFC fight at the White House, and the Democrat Socialists of America (FSA).

The ink had barely dried on the Memorandum of Understanding when The Kuwait Times reported that the Strait of Hormuz is closed to all vessel traffic. The Japan Times predicted that with their headline: This U.S.-Iran MOU will likely be a ‘memorandum of misunderstanding.’ How close did the UFC White House plot of terror come to fruition? What is driving the uptick in socialist and communist candidates running for public office? Edward Haugland, Prof. Pedro Blas González, and Lt. Joesph Pangaro in a great panel discussion.
Iran’s top joint military command, the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, issued a statement declaring the Strait of Hormuz closed to all maritime traffic. The military warned that any vessel attempting to transit the waterway would be targeted, citing violations of a ceasefire agreement by the U.S. and Israel. According to reports by Iranian state media and the official Mehr News Agency, the full text of the statement outlines the following: (Kuwait Times)
– Closure: The Strait of Hormuz is closed to all vessel traffic, including commercial ships and oil tankers.
– The “First Step”: The move is the “first step” taken in direct response to what Iran claims are breaches of commitments and ceasefire agreements.
– Warning of Further Action: The military command warned that further measures will be implemented if the “aggression continues”.
This U.S.-Iran MOU will likely be a ‘memorandum of misunderstanding’ – (The Japan Times)
Iran’s rulers are not ordinary nationalists searching for security. They are ideologues shaped by revolutionary Shiite doctrine and by a belief that sacrifice, subversion, and strategic patience are valid instruments of statecraft. That is why economic hardship alone will not reform them. Pressure may slow them. It may even wound them badly. But unless the West understands the worldview driving this regime, it will keep mistaking tactical pauses for real change.
JD Vance said, “The president is offering an outstretched hand, saying that if they change their behavior fundamentally, then the United States could have a different relationship with that country.”
Dictators, Democrats, and Iran – Is there a difference? – Edward Haugland
The fourteen-point Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Trump administration and Iran is just that, a memo. The objectives President Trump laid out have been achieved, 99% of what he set out to do – stop Iran from making a nuclear weapon and destroy their ability to do so.
Yet, even before the release of the text, the whiners showed up in droves to condemn it, forgetting that Iran has been decimated, their nuclear dust buried, and military 85% plus destroyed. That was just the Democrats. Now, the Republican whiners are coming out of the woodwork to Monday morning quarterback something they could not even have imagined in their wet dreams. (America Out Loud)
The fourteen-point MOU – point by point. One, both sides declare the end of the war. Two, both sides agree not to interfere in the other country. Three, a big deal, both sides “commit” to “negotiating” and achieving the “final deal” in a maximum of 60 days! I will come back to that. Fourth, the Straits of Hormuz are opened by both sides, and the US will move its forces from the “proximity.” Five, Iran will allow safe passage through the Straits, remove obstacles (aka mines), and will consult with Oman “in line with…international law and the sovereign rights of coastal states.”
The deeper meaning of the UFC and White House attack plot – Lt. Joseph Pangaro
This was not just another isolated incident carried out by fringe actors. It was another symptom of a nation wrestling with deep dissatisfaction, cultural fragmentation, and a growing sense that the American experiment is drifting off course. The domestic terror plot aimed at the UFC event and the White House is not just a law enforcement story. It is a societal warning flare. It tells us that the anger simmering beneath the surface of American life is reaching a boiling point. It tells us that the divide between competing visions of America is no longer just a matter of spirited debate—it is becoming a matter of national security. (America Out Loud)
We cannot afford to dismiss these incidents as the work of “crazy people.” We must understand the environment that produces them.
The hatred driving political violence
Events like this force us to confront an uncomfortable truth. People do not attempt violent acts in a vacuum. They emerge from an environment where anger, alienation, and hopelessness have been allowed to fester. And today, that environment is everywhere. You can feel it in the tone of our political debates, in the distrust between neighbors, in the cynicism of our young people, and in the widening gulf between competing visions of what America should be.
What is driving the uptick in socialist and communist candidates running for public office?
Has the American Dream expired?
Many Americans feel the country is headed in the wrong direction. They see rising costs, political dysfunction, cultural hostility, and a government that seems unable or unwilling to address the problems that matter most. Others feel the system is rigged, that traditional institutions have failed them, and that the American Dream is no longer within reach.
This divide is not just political. It is emotional. It is cultural. It is generational.
And it is dangerous.
Democratic socialists surge in mayoral races across the country as anti-Trump fervor rises
As Janeese Lewis George paves a path to the mayor’s office in Washington, D.C., she’s told voters they could have it all. “People are tired of hearing what government can’t do. They want to hear what government can do,” Lewis George said in an interview before the city’s primary, where she defeated her Democratic opponents and positioned herself to win the general election in November in a city dominated by Democrats. All of them are members of the Democratic Socialists of America, or DSA. The political organization has seen its membership ranks swell from a few thousand to more than 100,000 nationwide over the last decade after an influx of younger Americans joined following the presidential bids of Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, also a self-described democratic socialist.
OUR NATIONAL IDENTITY
The rise of Socialists and Communists
Has the Republican Party taken its eye off the ball in domestic politics?
The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) platform, titled “Workers Deserve More!”, focuses on transitioning control of the economy and society from corporate elites to the working class.
Key pillars of the DSA platform include:
– Economy & Labor: Implement a Green New Deal to address climate change, institute a 32-hour work week, and heavily tax the wealthy. The platform strongly supports organized labor, advocating for the expansion of union power and the right to strike.
– Public Services & Healthcare: Guarantee Medicare for All by eliminating private health insurance, and provide universal, tuition-free higher education and accessible housing for all.
– Political Restructuring: Replace the current two-party system with proportional representation, abolish the Senate and the Electoral College, and mandate a national popular vote for president. The DSA also advocates for reducing the power of the Supreme Court and extending voting rights to noncitizens and formerly incarcerated individuals.
– Criminal Justice Reform: Commit to an abolitionist framework by defunding the police, abolishing prisons, and ending the criminalization of working-class survival. [1]
– Foreign Policy: Promote a “working-class foreign policy” that seeks to defund the U.S. war machine, end economic warfare (sanctions), support open borders, and push for a free Palestine. (Democratic Socialists of America)
The Rise of a Disillusioned Generation
One of the most striking trends in recent years is the growing number of young Americans who say they prefer socialism over capitalism. This shift is not happening because young people have suddenly developed a deep academic interest in Marxist theory. It is happening because they are disillusioned.
They see a world where:
– Home ownership feels out of reach
– College debt hangs over them like a lifelong sentence
– Political leaders seem more interested in fighting each other than solving problems
– Social media amplifies every grievance and every injustice
– Traditional institutions feel distant, outdated, or untrustworthy
Where We Go From Here
If we want to prevent future acts of domestic terror, we must do more than arrest the perpetrators. We must address the dissatisfaction, division, and disillusionment that fuel them. We must rebuild trust in our institutions, restore pride in our national identity, and reteach the values that made America strong in the first place.
